Arbanassi (population: 310 inhabitants) is one of the most picturesque old villages in the country. Located on title rocky plateau, at only 4 km. northeast of Veliko Turnovo. With its monumental National Revival architecture of 16-17 centuries the houses and churches and its natural Arbanassi is a paradise for tourists. Fortress-houses impress with their crude appearance and high stone fences, which strongly contrast with picturesque gardens, unique comfort and convenience of the interior. Particularly beautiful are saved seven of 17 century churches with strong, high walls, small windows and inaccessible, bound with iron, oak doors, they fit harmoniously into the overall architectural form of the settlement. Arbanassi is declared an architectural reserve and is included in UNESCO World Heritage Site. The village has 5 churches and 2 monasteries built in the late 16th and early 17th century. In Arbanassi are 80 preserved houses of which 36 are national monuments. The natural resources of Arbanassi with clean air and healthy climate, driven by over the Aegean, is a favorite resting place of both our and foreign guests and tourists. By Royal Decree of 1921 was declared for a resort. In 2000 granted the status of the historical village of national importance.
