The Bulgarian resort of Chepelare is the sunniest town in Bulgaria with an estimated 270 days of sun per year. It is situated 222 kilometers from Sofia, 72 kilometers south of Plovdiv and 10 km to the north of the resort of Pamporovo.
Chepelare is not only famous for its 20 km long ski runs at the Mechi Chal ski center but also for the natural phenomenon of The Bridges of Wonder, and the numerous marked hiking and mountain bike tracks.
As a real Bulgarian Town Chepelare has a specific character and atmosphere, and has kept centuries old traditions. The Eastern Orthodox temple of St. Atanas was built in 1835. It is one of the oldest Eastern Orthodox Churches in the area.
The ski and ski sport museum offers a large collection of old ski and boots, photographs of famous skiers born in Chepelare and their medals and cups.
