Every Third Property Inquiry Comes from the UK
Every third inquiry for a house around Veliko Tarnovo comes from the UK, according to data from one of the real estate agencies.
Outside the villages of Elena, Balvan, Vetrintsi and Musina, up to 25 km from the old capital, houses that need repairs can be purchased for just 10,000 Euro or even less. Fully renovated 1-bedroom or 2-bedroom houses in good condition with a large yard can be found at a price of about 30,000 Euro, writes the British site Aplaceinthesun.
"The real estate investment in the city is stable. Rural houses are not purchased that much for investment purposes, although there is potential for them to become family hotels. Most rural houses are suitable for people who want a change in their lifestyle," says Polina Stoykova from Bulgarian Properties.
The site from the UK recalls how the 2008 financial crisis wiped literally overnight the inquiries from the Brits and left half-finished residential buildings rusting the terrains. Now, however, the interest is starting to grow again. Bulgaria returned to the top 10 chart of the site Aplaceinthesun for the best countries to buy a property abroad in 2019.
