Bulgaria

2006-10-04   |  www.novinite.com, 29th June 2006

An exhaustive article about Bulgaria, the headline reading "Bulgaria -the Rose of the Balkans", was published in the latest weekly issue of one of the most influential French magazines Paris Match.

"Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev, who is only 40, is not the typical statesman on the European political scene. Young and dynamic, as he is, the political leader does his utmost to steer Bulgaria to undeniable success through a policy of reforms", the article reads. "At a time when the country is preparing itself for a forthcoming EU membership, it has definitely won the image of a modern state and is now even hold as an example in the Balkans". Bulgaria plays an extremely positive role in Southeastern Europe with regard to stability and development, Stanishev was cited as saying.

"I am convinced that the EU enlargement, its expansion to Central and Eastern Europe in particular, shall be of benefit for both sides. Our country has a lot to offer: nature, culture, historical heritage - Bulgaria is a real gem," Stanishev also said.

On the final stretch to EU accession Bulgaria demonstrates healthy economy and fosters investments in every possible way, Paris Match wrote. A few months before the accession date of January 1, 2007 mutual consensus is a trump card for effective reforms required by the Union; and although there is still a lot to be done in political terms, the macroeconomic situation in the country speaks of incredible achievements, particularly if compared to the economic crisis the country went through in the mid-1990s, the magazine says. Bulgaria can now boast exceptional economic stability, and the projected 2006 Budget predicts a surplus of 3% of GDP.

The French magazine provides detailed information about the exceptional investment opportunities in the country and highlights market liberalisation as a key element of the structural reforms embarked on by the cabinet.

Bulgaria managed to turn its cultural heritage into a trump card and has taken the place it deserves in the modern day world, the French magazine reads. It further elaborates on Bulgaria's history, culture and great opportunities for tourism and sport. Situated in the Balkan Peninsula, rich in mountains, forests and rivers, Bulgaria is a marvel to behold for those who open their eyes to it, the article ends.
