Brits Seek Break from the Heat in Bulgaria's Resorts
More than two million Brits are heading off for holiday favourites this weekend to escape the sizzling heat that swept the country, show estimates of the Association of British Travel Agents.
Bulgaria is one of the most popular destinations, along with Greece, Portugal and the Canary Islands. The long-haul destinations for the more adventurous travellers include Brazil, Dubai and China.
Between Friday and Monday, Heathrow and Gatwick are expecting 700,000 departures, Stansted 180,000, Luton 40,000, Manchester 180,000, and Birmingham 70,000.
In addition, high-speed train company Eurostar will be carrying 70,000 through the Channel Tunnel and well over half a million will take a ferry crossing.
