My wife and I travelled to Bulgaria at the end of May with a view to purchasing a holday home, we had decided on Veliko Tarnovo as the area for our search
We got a bus from Sofia to VT and were met by the lovely Rossi who drove us to a fabulous small hotel in the lovely village of Abernassi afew miles out of VT.
The next day we were picked up by Steffan and Demitar who drove us out to see the property we were interested in, we fell in love with the house and its rural seclusion immediatly and decided not to bother with any more viewings
We were able to complete the legal formalities in a few hours ie Lawyers setting up a company and bank accounts (ourlegal vultures could learn a thing or two)
We are now the proud owners of a lovely modern house in a picturesque area which has not cost a fortune. I am looking forward to sitting out on our balcony with a G&T looking at my own orchard and the nearbye mountains
The area around VT is beautifull and unspoilt, the people friendly, everything is cheap, the language is not easy but most of the young people have some english but we are learning via the excellent Eurotalk cd,s available through Amazon
The staff at Bulgarian properties were excellent especially the delightfully "scatty" Rossi
