The Old Town Bath in Lovech to Become Museum of Water

2011-03-10   |  sg.stroitelstvo.info, January 2011, excerpt

The old town bath in the town of Lovech will be turned into a modern museum of water. This is what the investment project for restoration, conservation and socialization of the Deli Hamam building in Lovech includes.

The idea for the bath’s new purpose was defended during a public forum two years ago. Its aim was to draft a project for the reconstruction of the old Turkish bath Deli Hamam through presenting the principles of regeneration in Bulgaria and Europe related to the restoration and functioning of cultural monuments within modern conditions.

The plans include the building to be conserved and restored as its authentic look will be preserved. Its socialization will be achieved by forming areas and rooms for exhibitions related to the water theme. The construction of a modern museum by using multimedia in the building of the old bath is the first and most important element of the general project of the municipality. The initiative links existing monuments of culture of national importance and includes the construction of attractions.
