Bulgarian property sales again with a positive growth in 3Q 2013

2013-10-10   |  Polina Stoykova MRICS, Chief Operations Manager and Head of Research

Although with a slowing pace, Bulgarian property sales continue to rise in the third quarter of 2013 on an annual basis. A total of 59,475 properties were sold in Bulgaria in the third quarter, representing a 1.42% growth in sales on an annual basis, according to the Bulgarian Registry Agency data.

BULGARIAN PROPERTIES’ calculations show that the real estate sales in the bigger regional cities account for 53% of the total sales in the country in the third quarter of 2013, an increase of 5.35% (from 30,155 in 2012 to 31,767 in 2013).

The sales in Sofia in 3Q have also increased - from 4,210 in 2012 to 4,536 in 2013. Their growth is 7.74%, which is above the average in the regional cities and a logical consequence in view of the relatively good activity on the market in Sofia and the return of the buyers. Plovdiv registered a similar increase of 7.64% on an annual basis.

Burgas - the leader in sales growth

In the peak summer season the sales in Burgas have increased by 23.43% compared to the same period in 2012. This is a result of both the recovery of the property market in the seaside regions, and the continuing increase of foreign tourists mainly from Russia and Ukraine, many of which become property buyers. The rise in Varna is significantly lower compared to Burgas, but it is still higher than the average in the regional cities. Bulgarian sea capital has registered an increase of 10.77% in property sales in Q3.
