Events in Sofia on the World Theatre Day

2014-03-27   |  Olga Kotoman

It's the World Theatre Day today and quite naturally, the cultural life in the capital is full of events. The Bulgarian Actors Union is organizing today its annual ceremony for granting the "Ikar" awards. The ceremony will be held at the National "Ivan Vazov" Theater in downtown Sofia at 7 pm.

There will be awards for best director, leading male and female role, supporting roles, overall contribution, director's debut, actor's debut, puppets' mastership, music, theatre marketing and management, and others. The masters of the ceremony will be Mila Lyutskanova and Gerasim Georgiev, the directing of the ceremony is done by Stoyan Radev. At the event will perform Berkovska brass band, The Mystery of Bulgarian Voices and Valya Balkanska. The theme of this year's ceremony is "Who, who, WHO wins?"

The theatrical art goes hand in hand with the music. Thus, the popular club label CODE invites us all to a musical show at Club 365 in Sofia at 9 pm. The dress code is white. Three famous DJs will perform - DJ Flamme, toKKah and Vice and the sound will be deep, tech, vocal, soulful and disco/house. The team of CODE ensures this will be a memorable night for the passionate fans of night life.

A little later tonight Stefan Valdobrev and music band "Obichaynite Zapodozryani" will organize a concert. The event will take place at Terminal 1 club at 10 pm. The visitors who have attended the ceremony at the National Theatre "Ivan Vazov" will get free concert tickets after the ceremony. The party will begin with a set of Miroslav Ivanov Quartet and then "Obichaynite Zapodozryani" band will start at 11 pm and they will perform two sets with a total playing time of over two hours. The evening will continue with selected music.
