Nova Zagora-Yambol stretch of the Trakia motorway was opened officially on July 12. The opening of the section will provide quickly and easy access from the capital of Sofia to the town of Yambol – it will take just three hours by car.

The entire length of the motorway section between the towns of Nova Zagora and Yambol is 35.7 kilometres. The price of this part of the road amounts to around BGN 134 million.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov commented that the construction of the motorway proceeds ahead of schedule and the motorway will reach the Petolachkata road junction in few weeks.

The Trakia highway is expected to be completed by the spring of 2013, when it will be opened the next section between the towns of Yambol and Karnobat with a length of 49 km. It is planned the Trakia motorway to connect the capital of Sofia with Burgas and the Black Sea through the second-largest city of Plovdiv.
