What’s so sunny about Bulgaria’s Sunny Beach?

2012-07-09   |  Bulgaria Buying Guide

Sunny Beach, the largest of the Black Sea resorts, is located in the southern part of the country in an area known as the Black Sea Riviera. The resort is famous for having the longest and widest strip of Blue Flag beach in the country and benefits from being closed off in the north by the Balkan Range meaning that the landscape is a wonderful blend of mountain and sea. In addition to its natural charms, Sunny Beach offers an extensive range of accommodation and facilities, including some of the best nightlife in the country.

As well as the five miles of soft, white sand, the water is warm, calm and shallow making it nice and safe to swim in the sea. The resort benefits from a long summer season which stretches from May to September and guarantees around 300 days of sunshine a year. Average summer temperatures are an almost perfect 28 degrees and an interesting fact – Sunny Beach has more days of sunshine a year than Miami, Florida – showing that the resort has really earned its name.

It seems that people from across the UK and Europe are catching on to the benefits of a Bulgarian way of life. The combination of a scenic and varied landscape, relaxed and friendly locals, stable economy, increased employment opportunities and the fact that the cost of living is almost a third of that in the UK, means that more and more people are choosing to relocate their lives to the Balkan country.

Low property prices in Bulgaria have been attracting masses of savvy investors as well as the attention of people who want to emigrate. The quality and size of what you can get for your money in Bulgaria is quite startling.

For example, for just €23,500 (£18,859) you can purchase a luxury apartment in a five storey block of two and three bedroom apartments with extensive facilities including tennis courts, five swimming pools, two bars, two restaurants, a spa centre, a mini-market and a children’s playground just seven kilometres from Sunny Beach. Alternatively, a brand new fully-furnished, two storey villa in a mini-resort with two bedrooms and your very own pool can be yours for prices starting at €127,000 (£101,889).
