Koledaria Christmas Festival Opens in Sofia for the First Time
Christmas celebrations in a cozy atmosphere with a lot of laughter, music, and concerts backed up by culinary temptations. This is only part of the magic with which the first Christmas-New Year festival Koledaria attracts visitors to central Sofia. The festival was officially opened on November 30th and it will continue until January 7th 2010. The organizers want Sofia to also feel the spirit of the forthcoming holidays as do cities like London, Paris, Vienna and Prague.
Specially for the festival a pavilion with over 1,000 seats was erected in one of the parks in central Sofia, close to Sofia University. “The pavilion is protected against rain, snow and cold weather and under it there is a modern ventilation and heating system”, notes Milen Tsanov, Manager of Koledaria. “There is also a Wi-Fi zone, as well as round-the-clock video surveillance which will guarantee everyone’s safety. We have also taken into consideration disabled people as there will be a special wheelchair ramp.”
The big pavilion has a state-of-the-art kitchen which according to the organizers can feed up to 1,800 people. Everything is prepared on the spot so that the food can be fresh and delicious. It is not an accident that the pavilion is set close to the newest metro station connecting two of the quarters located in the opposite sides of the capital – Lyulin and Mladost. Thus people from every corner of Sofia can become part of the holiday atmosphere.
There is no entrance fee to the festival. Moreover, the organizers promise each visitor to be warmed with a glass of mulled wine. There will also be sampling of Christmas cakes, as well as culinary demonstrations by some of the most renowned chefs. Bulgarian crafts will also have a special place in the program.
