An Adventure Park to Be Built near Town of Lovech
An adventure park with a few eco paths, a paintball field and sports facilities will start functioning in the town of Suhindol, close to Veliko Tarnovo. The Municipality is working on a project for encouraging tourism worth 200,000 Euro, said the Mayor Plamen Chernev. The draft has already been given for coordination at the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water. According to him the area, which is one of the most picturesque in Bulgaria, has the potential to develop team-building tourism.
The adventure park will be located in the area between the town of Suhindol and the nearby village of Koevtsi. Two eco paths will lead there and their route has not been chosen accidentally. From here one will be able to get to the unique fountain with 40 spouts which is not visited by many people but is a wonderful attraction. Just next to it there are some century-old mulberry trees as one of the trees is almost 300 years old and is considered to be the oldest one in the country, added the Mayor. Another thing which those who walk along the paths will see is an old Roman road and a Roman sundial.
“Up to now these sites were local but our aim is to make them global as one will find such landmarks only here,” said Plamen Chernev. According to him those who love nature will also be attracted by the number of beautiful waterfalls and caves in the area.
According to archeologists from the Veliko Tarnovo Museum, the oldest information about the town dates back to the Stone Age (6,000 BC). In the area of Seltse there are remains of a settlement from II-V century BC and in the area of Drachevo there used to be a medieval fortress. The Mayor also mentioned the Suhindolski Peak to the north of the town, which is in fact an extinct volcano.
