21.05.2007 BULGARIA`S CAPITAL IN NEED OF INFRASTRUCTURE AND PARKING LOT INVESTMENT

Property Wise Magaizne, 17th May 2007

Sofia needs investment in infrastructure, underground parking lots and parks, Sofia mayor Boiko Borissov said during the first Balkan real estate conference BalRec.

It is problematic that nearly 70 per cent of all investment in Bulgaria targets Sofia, Borissov said. The capital can accommodate 600 000 to 700 000 people and currently has more than two million citizens.

Sofia’s chief architect Petar Dikov said that investors in the capital are expected to show interest in entertainment centres and property in the future.

Such projects are missing but should start appearing in the coming year, Dikov said.

Investors prefer locations in Sofia’s outskirts that allow easy travel to the city centre, Dikov said.
