BULGARIA PICKS CONTRACTORS FOR 2 PHARE-FUNDED ROAD TENDERS
Local company PSI and consortium Patni Stroezhi-Mostroy have won Phare-funded international tender for the reconstruction of the Pleven-Nikopol road and the construction of the road link between Novo Selo and the Maritsa motorway.
EU's Phare program provides 4.6 mln euro in co-financing for the 12.5 mln euro Pleven-Nikopol project. PSI will have to reconstruct 45 km of road in 2 years. The site is supervised by a tie-in formed by Bulgaria's Patconsult 2000, France's Safege and Italy's IRD Engineering.
Phare co-finances the 11.6 mln euro Novo Selo-Maritsa motorway road link with 7.8 mln euro. The project, supervised by Spanish-Bulgarian consortium Technica y Proyectos-Typsa-Rutex, should e completed in 42 months.
Thursday's deal signings bring to a close the contracting under the Phare 2004 financial memorandum. A total of 217 contracts have been signed with municipalities, NGOs and commercial corporations with a combined value of 58.5 mln euro.
