Civil Airport to Be Constructed near Gotse Delchev

2006-10-04   |  Standart News, 20th March 2006

Investors show serious interest to the construction of a civil airport near the town of Gotse Delchev, southern Bulgaria.
The businessmen are ready to make heavy investments into an airport well-fitted for charter flights.
"Five months ago, we made a proposal to the Ministry of Defence to issue a permission for the conversion of the former military airport into a civil one. The procedure is still underway," Mayor of Gotse Delchev, Vladimir Moskov, stated yesterday.
At present, the landing strip of the former military airport is 2.5-kilometer-long and is not used.
Gotse Delchev's citizens are certain that their town will become a more attractive tourist center if the airport is restored and opened. Moreover, Gotse Delchev is only 55 kilometers away from a fashionable and fast developing winter resort - Bansko.
