My son and I went to Smoylan last June. All the staff at the Smolyan office (special thanks to Luba Hubcheva) were very good in helping us get from Varna Airport to Smolyan, they picked us up from the airport at 12:30am and drove us to Smolyan (which takes aprox 7-8 hours). The journey down was very nice, even in the dead of night, but it is a very long drive. After arriving in Smolyan and getting a few hours sleep in the Hotel Spartak, 2 mins from the office, we went to meet Luba who found us some houses to view. On the first day of viewing properties our mind was made up when we went to view a house in Devin. It's quite a small town but very beatiful with 2 spa hotels in it, one of them is very newly built, both of them are only 5 mins walk from our house. On one of the days we were taken on a tour of Devin and shown round the town which we also feel in love with, being only 1 hour drive away from Smolyan and 20 mins drive away from Pamporovo.
I recently returned from our second trip with my daughter. We went back to meet with a builder to talk about finishing off the house (windows,doors etc). The Plovdiv office set up the meeting for us (Smolyan and Plovdiv offices have now merged together) so thank you Gergana Toleva as well for all your help.
Are there any other English people in Devin or in the surrounding area??
