Narrow-gauge train in the Rhodopes tops The Guardian’s 10 best scenic rail journeys in Europe

A tourist attraction that Bulgarian and foreign tourists find fascinating is the Septemvri-Dobrinishte narrow-gauge train. The train winds through the mountain maze connecting the Upper Thracian Plain with the Rhodopes, Rila and Pirin.

The journey is so spectacular that The Guardian describes it as the “winning readers’ tip” in its 10 best scenic rail journeys in Europe.
