Bansko, Pamporovo and Borovets open 2012/2013 ski season
The three major ski resorts in Bulgaria - Bansko, Pamporovo and Borovets open the new 2012/2013 ski season on December 15th.
The new ski season in the largest winter resort of the Balkan Peninsula - Bansko will be opened by former World Cup champion alpine ski racer Hermann Maier.
In the popular mountain resort of Pamporovo during the two days of the opening the ski-lifts will be free. In season 2012/2013 Pamporovo will host the FIS European Cup for Women, World Cup for ski instructors, winter bike race - Winter Bike Duel 2013, National Championship ski and snowboard freestyle - Pamporovo Freestyle Open, Pamporovo Cup FIS, etc.
The new ski season in Borovets will be opened with a free use of the facilities in the resort on December 15th. The festive program in Borovets includes a snow show, games and contests for children and adults on the parade ground and ski runs in front of Rila hotel.
Experts expect a 5% increase in the number of tourists this year. The Bulgarian ski resorts are a preferred ski destination for tourists from the UK, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece and Turkey.
