The village:
Quiet and peaceful, with population of about 860 people, it spreads between the folds of the Danube Plain. The soil is extremely generous which is why most of the local people work in the agriculture.
Dragomirovo was named after the famous Russian General Mihail Dragomirov, who led the Russian troops when they forced the Danube River near Svishtov in the night of 28.06.1877. This was the beginning of an exhausting war known in Bulgaria’s history as the Liberation War of 1877 – 1878.
Dragomirovo was founded following the Liberation of Bulgaria in 1878 as part of the earliest wave of Roman Catholic Banat Bulgarians return from the Banat (in Austria-Hungary) to Bulgaria, and was settled by 141 households from Stár Bišnov and one from Brešćа, as well as by another, culturally different group of Roman Catholic Bulgarians: "Bucharesters" from Popeşti-Leordeni and Cioplea in Wallachia, Romania.
Besides the Catholics, Dragomirovo also has a large and varied Bulgarian Orthodox population, which consists of former emigrants who had returned from Romania, as well as Bulgarian settlers from the Balkan Mountains and other inland regions, and Bulgarian refugees from Vardar Macedonia who arrived in 1922.
The Municipality
Svishtov Municipality is situated in the northernmost part of Veliko Tarnovo District and borders through the Danube River on the Republic of Romania and the following municipalities: Polski Trambesh in Veliko Turnovo District, Tsenovo in Russe District, and Levski in Pleven District.
This is where the southernmost point of the Danube River (43° H 37` northern latitude), is located, which means it is the shortest way from the Danube through Stara Planina and the valley of Maritsa River, to the Aegean Sea.
Svishtov is one of the leading industrial and agricultural centers in Veliko Tarnovo District. Svishtov municipality is developing a mixed type of economy.
On the territory of Municipality of Svishtov there are presently 120 official archaeological, art, and architectural monuments of culture of local and national significance.
The District
The village is part of Veliko Tarnovo district – it is in the middle of the northern part of Bulgaria. Its capital city, Veliko Tarnovo, is of historical significance as it is known as the capital of Medieval Bulgaria.
Other towns in the province include Gorna Oryahovitsa, which is within 10 kilometres of Veliko Tarnovo; Svishtov - set on Danube River and famous for its Tsenov Academy of Economics; and Suhindol - the hometown of Lovico — an internationally recognised label for fine wines and spirits.
Another notable place is the village of Arbanasi, set between Veliko Tarnovo and Gorna Oryahovitsa. The combination of old style and modern architecture, as well as its churches and monasteries, present the spirit of Bulgaria.
Real estate in the Region is among the most expensive in the country.
The property is situated at the outskirts of the village of Dragomirovo and offers privacy and stunning views. The village is part of Svishtov Municipality, Veliko Tarnovo Region; it is 20 km south from Svishtov and Danube River and it is well connected to the surrounding towns and villages by buses. There are several food shops, local pubs, hardware stores, post office, etc. in the village – everything needed for the every-day life. The nearest town for the weekly shopping is Svishtov, which is 20 km away; the town of Pleven is at 60 km and the district’s center - Veliko Tarnovo is at 80km.
The property comes with a plot of 1100 sq. m. of land, house on two floors, smaller residential building, known in Bulgaria as “summer kitchen”, garage and some outbuildings.
The house is in overall good condition with total area of 160 sq.m. and offers one room (3 x 4m), corridor (4 x 2.5m), big cellar (3 x 4m) and an inner bathroom (2 x 2.5m), on the ground floor. The upper floor is bigger than the ground floor and it is divided into two parts with separate entrances. The left part comprises of two rooms (both 3x4m) and a large corridor (6 x 2.5m). The other part of the second floor offers another three rooms (4 x 3.m; 4 x2.5m and 4 x 3m).
Near the main house is the so called “summer kitchen” - a separate building which has a kitchen (2.5 x 3.5m) and one more room (3 x 3.5m). The summer kitchen is traditionally used in Bulgaria during the summer, but with some modernization work this could become a nice guest-house to accommodate friends and relatives for example.
Attached to the summer kitchen is the garage, which could be used by purpose or connected to the summer kitchen and used as a bedroom or living room.
At the rear side of the house are the outbuildings. They could either be used for agricultural purposes, as storages or they could be transformed into something else – i.e. BBQ area, workshops, etc.
The adjoining plot is in rectangular shape and it could be used for growing a variety of plants as the soil in the village is very generous. The garden is big enough for adding a swimming pool too, which would bring much more charm and value to the estate.
Water and electricity are connected to mains. Digital TV and Internet could be also connected. The house is in good condition, but will require modernization and renovation work as it has been uninhabited for some time.
The property is:
- 6 miles away from the town of Ovcha Mogila;
- 12 miles from the town of Svishtov;
-26 miles from the town of Pavlikeni;
- 29 miles from the town of Polski Trambesh;
