Located in a mountain area, the village of Borino is part of Smolyan region in the southern part of Bulgaria. The population of the village consists of a few Christians and a large group of Muslims, mainly Turks and Pomaks who live peacefully and in understanding with each other. Each year on St. George’s Day in the village is being organized a football tournament with the participation of teams from the villages in the region.
As part of the southwestern Rhodope Mountain, the village of Borino is near many natural attractions. Among the most famous ones are the caves the Devil's Throat and Yagodinska, as well as the Trigrad gorge and the Buynovsko gorge. Interesting to visit are also Kemerovo Bridge and Devil's Bridge, which however are human made.
