11.05.2011 The Shoumen Fortress Becomes National Tourist Site

The work on the finishing of the pathways leading to the fortress has ended, as well as the work on the safety facilities. The Southern and the Eastern fortress walls were restored, as well as part of the Northern wall.
A barrier has been placed at the site and there will be guards and CCTV cameras. The restoration and conservation works will continue as the funding for them will be provided from entrance fees.
