Tenth National Folk Festival in Bulgarian Town of Koprivshtitsa
Every five years the beautiful Bulgarian town of Koprivshtitsa hosts a national folk art festival and groups, amateur performers, professional artists and tourists from all over Bulgaria and the world gather there. Those who can take part in the Koprivshtitsa 2010 folk festival are singers, players, dancers, tellers of folk legends and all those performing authentic Bulgarian folklore. This year the folk festival will take place from August 6th till August 8th as over 10,000 participants and tourists are expected to come to Koprivshtitsa.
Bulgarian national TV channel bTV tells us that the folk festival marks the beginning of the tour of one of the groups which will take part in it – the London Bulgarian Choir. They are singers from various nationalities united by their love of Bulgarian folklore. Most of them are foreigners, others are Bulgarians, some are married to Bulgarians but all of them love Bulgarian folklore. Most of them do not speak a word of Bulgarian but sing wonderfully Bulgarian folk songs.
The first folklore festival in Koprivshtitsa was held in 1965 as this year will be the 10th anniversary festival.
