03.04.2009 Tourists in Belogradchik to Double This Season

Twice as many tourists will visit Belograchik this year compared to the previous. This was announced by the mayor of Belogradchik municipality, Emil Tsankov. About 200,000 tourists will visit the Belogradchik Rocks this year, which is twice as much compared to the previous season.

The national campaign for nomination of Belogradchik Rocks in the New Seven Wonders of Nature contest made Belogradchik a much more popular tourist destination. New parking spaces will be built to accommodate the increasing number of vehicles. The development of three new hotels and a holiday village in the region of Rabisha village near the Magurata cave is planned to start this year.

More than 15 national media reported the nomination of the Belogradchik Rocks. For some time they held the first place in the contest in the Caves, Rock Formations and Valleys category.

More than 3.5 million people from Australia, New Zeeland, USA, Canada, China, Ukraine, Hungary, etc. have voted for the Bulgarian natural phenomenon.
