Town of Razlog to Receive Financing for Tourist Attractions
The development of the project Adapting the Monuments of the Cultural-Historical Heritage for the Development of Tourism in the Municipality of Razlog has been approved at the preliminary stage for the selection of projects which will receive financing under the Support for the Development of Tourist Attractions programme, part of the Regional Development 2007-2013 Operational Programme. This is what the local authorities in Razlog announced.
The sites for which the municipality has applied for financing are the two old bathhouses in the village of Banya. They are to be restored and exhibited to the public in an attractive way. The project also includes the rehabilitation of a 500-meter section of a street connecting the two sites, as well as the cleaning and developing of the areas around the bathhouses. The Municipality also plans the construction of a small parking lot, the furnishing of a small information center, the construction of a water attraction. The developing of a marketing strategy is also one of the planned activities.
The Municipality of Razlog is drafting another application for the village of Banya with which it will take part in a competition for new European tourist destinations of excellence on the topic of Water – a Source of Life and Well-Being, announced under the European Commission’s EDEN program.
