Town of Montana to Restore Its Ancient Fortress
The Bulgarian town of Montana has a rich history and does everything in its power to preserve it for the generations to come. This is also the idea behind the project for the restoration of the fortress Castra ad Montanesium.
The project passed the first stage of approval. Its cost is 1.3 million leva but its realization will allow the restoration of the fortress walls, the wooden gate, the basilica, and the military and residential quarters.
Thus the fortress can be turned into one of the attractions of the cultural-historical tourism in the area. There will also be an Information Center and the beautiful park there can be turned into a favorite place for relaxation of the residents of Montana and their guests.
