Unique Glass Bridge to Lead Tourists to Veliko Tarnovo’s Tsarevets Fortress
A glass bridge will lead tourists to the fortress of Tsarevets, in Bulgaria’s old capital of Veliko Tarnovo. The unique facility will be made from a material of high strength and will endure even the transportation of freight. The project is ready, boasted yesterday the administration of Veliko Tarnovo.
The attraction bridge will be lit at night in a spectacular way, Standard newspaper informed.
The tourists will step directly on the glass and will be able to see the huge abyss which used to separate the fortress from the other part of the town. The facility is to be constructed in similarity to a bridge in the Austrian town of Graz.
The towers on the hill of Trapezitsa will be restored based on a painting from the Vatican and authentic images from the Manasses Chronicle.
For the construction of the churches a copy from a 7 century old parchment manuscript will be used. At the background of the hills of Trapezitsa and Tsarevets scenes from the death of Ivan Assen, son of tsar Ivan Alexander are being depicted in it.
After long investigations the archaeologists have found out the exact location of the towers of the fortress and the height of the walls.
The fortress of Tsarevets served as the Second Bulgarian Empire's primary fortress and strongest bulwark from 1185 to 1393, housing the royal and the patriarchal palaces. The fortress is a primary tourist attraction in Bulgaria.
