Plovdiv Municipality Presents Its 2010 Cultural Calendar
The cultural capital of Bulgaria – the city of Plovdiv, presented its cultural events for 2010, Plovdiv Municipality announced.
In April and May the Art Festival Spring in the Old Town will take place. Various art events will be organized in the Old Town together with The Fire of Orpheus Foundation and formations with the Plovdiv Municipality.
This year there will also be a new initiative in Plovdiv called The Night of Music, which will take place in May.
From July 26th to July 30th 2010 the ÕV²² International Folklore Festival will take place. The parade of the participants along Plovdiv’s main street will mark the official opening of the festival. The performances will take place in the Ancient Theater and on an open-air stage on Stefan Stambolov Square. Until now folklore dancing groups from Greece, Turkey, Romania, Serbia, Moldova, Russia, Georgia, Belarus, Poland, The Czech Republic, Italy, France, Egypt, Nigeria, Mexico, Portugal, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico and India have taken part in the festival.
The Autumn Art Salon will open on September 1st 2010 in the Ancient Theater of Plovdiv with a concert of Nigel Kennedy and the orchestra of the Opera and Philharmonic Society - Plovdiv.
The traditional for the whole of Bulgaria Night of the Museums and Galleries will take place in Plovdiv on September 24th and September 25th will mark the holiday of the Old Town.
The program of Plovdiv Municipality also includes a lot of theater, film and folklore events.
