08.05.2009 Sports and Entertainment Centers to Be Built in Town of Bansko

The plans of investing in a new Social Sports Recreational Center – Bansko were presented at a regular monthly session of the Municipal Council of the town of Bansko. Currently the team is working on the projects in two directions – the optimizing of the preliminary project and its financing. Within 45 days it will be ready and will be presented for discussion to the municipality. The investing company is negotiating with a few investors for co-financing of the project worth 20 million leva.

During the session it became clear that currently a detailed site development plan is being drawn up for the construction of a sports and entertainment center in the Durovo Blato area. On an area of 58,000 sq.m. there will be a sports hall, an entertainment center with a trading area, a SPA complex and a hotel.

The Municipal Council in Bansko also agreed on the commencing of a pre-project research for the construction of a sports and entertainment center on an area of 100 decares in the Kerandzhiytsa area worth 10 million leva. The center will have training grounds, a stadium, swimming pools, tennis courts, a racing track, a gym, a medical center, basketball and volleyball courts, playgrounds, bicycle alleys, dressing rooms, parking lots and streets.

The 2007-2013 Municipality Development Plan was also updated during the session. The improvement of the tourist image of the settlements in the municipality was added to the chapter Strategic Goals for Bansko’s Development; the construction and putting into operation of a water purifying station in the town of Dobrinishte, the building of main collectors in Bansko, repair, maintenance and development of the streets in the settlements in the municipality were added to the chapter Measures for Achieving the Strategic Goals; the construction of a central heating system in the town of Dobrinishte based on biomass or other alternative fuel, increasing the quality of the telecommunication and internet services in the area, rehabilitation of the town park in Bansko and improving the overall grassing and planting of the municipality were also added to the strategic plan.
