Infrastructure development and modernisation over the past years resulted in a ‘boom’ in Bulgaria’s popularity as a ski destination. The country’s EU accession on January 1 2007 attracted larger investor interest and a number of investors decided to enter Bulgaria’s ski property market, UK Real Estate TV reported.

Neilson ski holiday company representative Nina McMaster said that Bulgaria offered opportunities for diverse vacation opportunities for couples, families and groups.

The country was a ‘great place’ for ski and snowboard beginners “as it [was] relatively cheap to learn” in Bulgaria.

McMaster said that Bulgaria’s winter tourism progress resulted mainly from the construction of a number of new hotels and apartments in Bansko winter resort.

Real Estate TV reported that an increasing number of Britons preferred activity holidays and most of them would head for the mountain slopes.
