WINTER RESORT IN BULGARIA LOWERS PRICES
Almost all hotels in Pamporovo resort lowered accommodation prices by up to 30 per cent after the end of the Christmas holidays. Hotel owners said that the decrease in the prices resulted from a period of lower tourist interest that was about to begin after the holidays.
Pamporpvo representatives said as quoted by 24 Chassa newspaper that the snow was insufficient but the resort had never experienced such tourist interest.
Some tourists preferred to spend their holidays in the hotels and mehanas, instead of to ski, 24 Chassa said. Hotels were offering various trips and alternative activities.
Hotel manager Rosen Kefilev said that no booking was canceled because of the lack of snow.
Tourist were still unsatisfied because on some of the tracks the snow was too thin and the lift card of 49 leva was 'too expensive for the conditions offered.'
Pamporovo representatives said that 17 out of 22 km of tracks were opened for skiers. The rest would remain closed until more snow falls.
Pamporovo was offering the best ski conditions in Bulgaria as the natural snow coverage was from 20 to 24 cm, 24 Chassa said. Artificial snow machines were also taking care of the snow coverage.
