Bansko Announced Winter Capital of the Balkans

Bansko received the official prize for a Winter Capital of the Balkans on 30th September 2010.

The prestigious prize was presented on a grandiose ceremony in Novi Sad – Serbia, during the International Tourism Fair in the city.

The decision of the the Balkan Association was supported by the European and World Association of Hoteliers. Bansko received a chance to be nominated for the title, after an inspection from the Balkan association of hotels and restaurants in May.

The mayor of Bansko noted that he is pleased that Bansko has been recognized as a leading winter destination. He also stated that Bansko truly deserves the prize for all the improvements made during the past 10 years, which are today appreciated by all guests of the resort.

The head of the Bulgarian Hotelier and Restauranteur Association announced that the prize is a great advertisement for Bulgaria. This distinction is an important responsibility for Bansko and requires it to provide excellent hospitality for the beginning of the World Cup for men next year.
