New highway construction contract to be signed in Bulgaria

The contract for the construction of the new Liulin highway would be signed in the Road Executive Agency on August 8, Darik Radio reported.

The project will cost 148 million euro. The European Commission grants 75 per cent of the sum. The other 25 will come from Bulgaria.

The twenty-km highway is to be build in three years and will have two lanes. It will be part of European corridor 4, connecting Vidin, Sofia and Kulata. It will also be part of the European corridor 8, connecting Gueshevo, Kiustendil, Sofia and Bourgas.

The project involves the construction of three tunnels, three junctions and 26 bridges and viaducts, Darik reported.
