Bulgaria. Most people visiting Bulgaria are doing so for holiday or investment purposes. We assume you are interested in the latter and so this resource is geared up to that objective. Many investors are interested in Bansko at the moment and this section is therefore slanted towards that. Transport To Bulgaria You do not need a visa to travel to Bulgaria for up to one month. Direct non stop flight from the UK to Sofia are provided by : British Airways from London Heathrow: http://www.britishairways.com/travel/home/public/en_gb Cheaper flights can be had by booking as early as you can and making sure you stay Friday/Saturday nights. You can expect to pay from £160 depending on time of year etc. Flight leaves UK 8.35am every day, return flight leaves Sofia 2pm. Or Bulgaria Air from London Gatwick: http://www.air.bg/ Prices can be as low as £140. Leaves Gatwick 10.30 am each day. The disadvantage with this flight is the return leg which leaves Sofia airport at 7am; this means a very early start if you are in Bansko or staying the night before in Sofia which can add to the cost making the BA flight the same price overall. You can also book here www.BulgariaFlights.com Internal transport We can provide collection from Sofia. We charge 0.20 euro cents per km which is about 60% of the cost of a normal taxi. There are police on the main roads with radar. Also be aware that the standard of driving is not as high as you may be used to in Western Europe. We also do not advise you to drive at night as the roads are sometimes poor with potholes or road humps in the most unexpected places. If it is winter you are strongly advised not to drive after about 5pm when the temperature falls and ice is likely. Bear in mind also that in winter the cars are fitted with snow tyres which makes handling different to that we are used to in the UK.
