May Festival Popularizes Tourism in Rhodopi Mountains
A first of its kind festival in May in the town of Kardzhali will show the cultural and historical heritage of the area and the traditional cuisine of the Eastern Rhodopi Mountains. The idea is the festival to be held every year in the beginning of the tourist season.
The festival The Traditions and the Future will popularize the historical and natural phenomena in the region and will help the development of tourism. On May 14th special pavilions of each of the seven municipalities will show their way of life and culture in Kardzhali’s central park.
The Rhodopi banitsa (traditional cheese pastry) will be the main culinary focus of the event. There will be a special place where local culinary masters will demonstrate how to make the famous banitsa.
Artists and experts from the Regional Museum of History will take part in the event with their stalls with souvenirs and materials related to the historical and cultural sights in the region.
