Burgas welcomes guests with sports, tours, exhibitions and entertainment
During this summer season residents and guests of Burgas can use 200 free of charge umbrellas and hundred of sun loungers on the central city beach.
There are qualified lifeguards who are guard watching for swimming people in the sea since the beginning of June, and in the hottest months – in July and August - their number will reach 14 people: two for one post.
The central city beach offers to sports fans exciting competitions: International Beach Volleyball Tournament, exclusively prestigious qualification matches of the World Cup of Beach Volleyball in the European area. In the coming weekend Regional Tournament for Beach Tennis will be held at the central beach. It is organized by the Black Sea beach sports club, the municipality of Burgas and tennis club ‘Neftochimik’.
By longstanding tradition the city beach (and the whole Black Sea coast of Bulgaria) is a place where hundreds of enthusiasts gather together to meet July Morning (morning July 1st). Interesting events and concerts are expected on the beach this summer.
In early July traditional festival of sandy figures will be held in Burgas. At this year's festival, 65 fairy-tale characters will ‘revive’ on the theme ‘Tales of Sand’ in more than twenty compositions. This year, along with Bulgarian sculptures their creativity at the festival will show 10 representatives from Norway, Portugal, Czech Republic, Belgium, Ireland, Ukraine, Latvia and Russia.
Since the beginning of the year 4 cruise ships have already visited Burgas and 24 ships are expected by the end of the season. The tourists from the ships usually want to sightseeing Nessebar, which is a popular resort town-monument under UNESCO protection. Apart of Bourgas tourists have the opportunity to go on a trip to the ancient seaside town of Sozopol and the architectural reserve Zheravna village. Those who do not go on guided tours can walk in the Seaside Park and in the center of Burgas.
