LYULIN HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN IN BULGARIA IN JANUARY 2007
Lyulin highway construction will begin in January 2007 and will take three years to complete. The highway would be 19 km long and would connect Sofia's ring-road and European corridors IV and VIII, Darik Radio said. Lyulin highway project costs 138 million euro. Turkish consortium Mapa-Cengiz will carry out the construction works.
Vesselin Georgiev, executive director of the national road infrastructure fund said that the fund signed a 4.435 million euro contract for supervision of the construction on December 20 2006.
The highway was very difficult to construct, Georgiev said. The project includes construction of three tunnels having total length of 1260 m, 26 bridges and viaducts and three road junctions.
Speed limit on the highway is to be set at 100 or 110 km per hour.
