Bansko places in top 20 winter resorts
The ski resort of Bansko at the foot of the Pirin Mountain is one of the resorts distinguished in Kitzbuhel, Austria and stands in the top 20 of World Ski Awards 2013. The distinction was handed to the marketing manager of Bansko Ski center Ivan Obreikov at a ceremony in the Austrian mountain resort.
Ski tourism figureheads and market leaders from North America, Europe Asia, South America and Australasia attended the World Ski Awards.
Hundreds of thousands travel professionals and skiers across the globe have voted for their favourite resorts, chalets and hotels. The World Ski Awards is the sister organisation of World Travel Awards, which is heralded as “the Oscars of the travel industry”.
The event has been announced grandly, while the media partners were leading brands such as TV5Monde, International Herald Tribune, National Geographic Traveller, Newsweek and CNBC. This Global Media Partner network has a monthly readership of 1.7 million and a TV audience reach of 90 million.
Over 1 million people from around the world participated in the online voting, which began on August 26 and determined the champions in 4 categories - the “World’s Best Ski Resort”, “World’s Best Ski Hotel”, World’s Best Ski Chalet”, World’s Best Ski Boutique Hotel”.
The competition involved 20 leading countries developing winter tourism - Australia, Austria, Andorra, Argentina, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, USA, Slovenia, Finland, France, Chile, Sweden, Switzerland, South Korea and Japan.
Besides Bansko other Bulgarian ski resorts were nominated for the best ski resort in Bulgaria - Vitosha, Borovets and Pamporovo.
Bulgaria’s 5-star Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko was recognised as a leader in the market with the award for “Bulgaria’s Best Ski Hotel”.
