BalREc: Trends and Challenges on the Bulgarian Real Estate Market

2008-10-10   |  Velimira Dimitrova, BULGARIAN PROPERTIES

On October 9th Sheraton Sofia Hotel hosted the Balkan real estate conference BalREc – Bulgaria which as a rule precedes BalPEx – the regional real estate exhibition. The main aim of the conference was to give a general picture of the real estate market in Bulgaria and to offer a discussion platform for the challenges in the branch and the way to meet them.

BalREc managed to attract representatives of companies occupying key positions on the Bulgarian property market. During the conference the participants commented and analyzed the situation and the perspectives before the local property market in the next couple of years and tried to answer question related to the challenges in the branch.

The overall opinion of the participants in the conference was that the global crisis has reached Bulgaria but that it did not hit it hard due to a few factors like the stable banking system, the strong economy and the lack of complex financial products. Another conclusion that was made by the participants was that the crisis has a positive effect on the market as far as the real estate market has sobered up and is more stable and that the quality projects are the ones to be demanded and realized.

BULGARIAN PROPERTIES Executive Director Mihail Chobanov moderated one of the hotter panels – the holiday homes panel during which the speakers reached some interesting conclusions.
