With this in mind, today I chat to Polina Stoykova, Head of Operations and Property Research at BULGARIAN PROPERTIES, about who is currently buying over in Bulgaria…
“At present, the most common buyers in Bulgaria hail from Russia. In fact, in 2013 they represented about 40% of all buyers of holiday and residential properties in Bulgaria.
“Most commonly they buy property to use as holiday homes or for their retirement. Investment is not their primary concern as very few of them choose to rent out their property as another form of income.
“The reason that Bulgaria is so popular with Russians is because they feel at home for them. There are a lot of Russians here which makes it a home away from home.
"When it comes to British buyers, we still see a high number of people buying in the ski resorts, particularly Bansko, where prices remain enticingly low to Brits”.
