Bulgaria to Rival Spain in Golf
Bulgaria may become Spain's major golf tourism rival if this branch is developed in the country, according to Manuel Ferri Sanchez, head of the Ferri Group who attended the construction and investment forum in Sofia.
"The climate in Bulgaria is favorable and golf could be played seven up to nine months a year. Besides, the country avails of many water resources and offers interesting concomitant tourism services," Sanchez said. He further specified that in Spain the income of that sort of tourism is over 737 million euro a year. At least 40 golf courses will be built all over Bulgaria by 2020, according to forecasts of Sofia tourism council. The golf complexes will be mostly situated along the Black Sea coast, round the major cities of Plovdiv and Sofia, the council head Rumen Draganov said.
