Rapidly expanding Bulgarian ski resort Bansko, which has recently announced a cap on new building projects, is to look in to the possibility of building a new runway to enable it to accommodate Boeing 737 and Airbus aircraft. The airport would support the further tourism development in the entire region.
The town’s mayor took part in a forum on airport projects where had talks with US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) representatives and officials from the Trade department of the US Embassy in Bulgaria.
The resort looks likely to begin pre-project research with the aid of $200,000 in USTDA grant aid.
