If you do drive in Bulgaria please be wary of speed limits. There are police on the main roads with radar. Also be aware that the standard of driving is not as high as you may be used to in Western Europe. We also do not advise you to drive at night as the roads are sometimes poor with potholes or road humps in the most unexpected places. If it is winter you are strongly advised not to drive after about 5pm when the temperature falls and ice is likely. Bear in mind also that in winter the cars are fitted with snow tyres which makes handling different to that we are used to in the UK.
