26.06.2007 A New Resort-and-Tourist Center “Prespa” Developing In The Rhodopes Mountain

A General Organization Plan is to be prepared for 3665 decares in the area of the villages of Slaveyno and Kutela, to create a new tourism resort center.

The increased investment interest in the construction of resort complexes initiated the development of Smolyan municipality as a tourism-and-resort center and the turning of the Rhodopes mountain in a year-round recreation and tourism zone. Following the establishment of the resort centers Raykovski Livadi, Ezerata and Hayduski Polyani, a new tourism-and-resort center “Prespa” is to be created on the territory of the villages Slaveyno and Kutela. For the said purpose the Smolyan municipality will have to assign the preparation of a general organization plan of the territory totaling 3665 decares. The scope of the project comprises the “Prespa” chalet, Goryalata Hvoyna, Inoglovo, Cherkovishte, Malko Inoglovo, Chilovi Vili, the Baliysko region. To the north the lot borders with the territory of the Manastir village, to the east and west - with the forest-owning Producer Cooperation “Murdjov Pojar” located too within Slaveyno village territory. The scope was defined taking into consideration the natural landmarks, according to the map of the restored property, the village territorial borders, and the stated investment intentions.

The Territory Regulation Experts Council has already approved the requirements for the preparation of a General Organization Plan of the “Prespa” resort-and-tourism center. The main goals to be achieved by the Organization Plan are: establishment of a center with sufficient number of beds and servicing base in order for the visitors to be able to rest, recreate and enjoy a year-round tourism, including provision of medical service, mountain-rescue personnel, fire-security and others; creating training grounds for the ski-beginners, fishing areas, establishment of eco-routes around the natural landmarks with possibility to observe the south mountain formations. In order to optimize the investment process and to achieve a favorable recreational environment in the zone the plan suggests low-height build-up – up to no more than 10 meters height.
