600 mln Euro world class resort to be built between Govedartsi and Sapareva Banya in Bulgaria
A world class resort is envisaged to be built in the area between Govedartsi and Sapareva Banya in the Rila mountains. The area is located 26 km from the popular ski resort of Borovets and 80 km from the capital Sofia. The project is designed by a team of renowned French specialists.
It is planned that the future resort to be unique for Bulgaria, all-year operational and offering quality services at affordable prices for around 250,000 tourists from Bulgaria and abroad with a variety of sports activities for all ages.
Over 600 mln euro is planned to be invested in the resort, which will have 83 ski runs with a length of 155 km (approximate the same lenngh as in the world famous Kitzbühel in Austria and Courchevel in France) and 27 lifts. According to the project, three settlements with a total of 20,000 beds will be built between Samokov and Sapareva Banya. The resort will cover an area of 5,500,000 sq.m. of land - state, municipal and private land. The properties will be categorized as 3 to 5 stars and the movement of vehicles will be limited. There will be built golf courses, spa facilities and other properties so that it can be developed over 80 types of activities. The project will ensure more than 7,000 new jobs and additional employment in agriculture. The estimated annual turnover amounts to an impressive amount of 200 mln euros.
The project was designed by specialists from: Cluster Montagn – a union of the largest 90 French companies in the field of mountain tourism with billions of euros turnover; PGI Management – a owner and operator of mountain resorts; MDP Consulting - a company dealing with spatial planning; Assos Group – a hotel operator № 1 in Europe and Markan - a chief contractor.
Now the project’s team expects official support from the authorities of the two neighboring municipalities. After that the project will be presented to the Ministries of the Economy, Energy and Tourism, Regional Development and Agriculture.
