The distance to Plovdiv Airport is 74 km.
Pamporovo
in the sunniest ski resort on the Balkans with soft winter and long ski season. The ski runs are situated between 1926m and 1450 m above the sea level on the northern, eastern and western slopes of Snejanka peak. The resort is very suitable for beginners, but there are also difficult ski runs like the Giant Slalom run. Besides skiing and snowboarding in winter, during the summer you can also enjoy mountain biking & trekking, fishing & horse riding. The Aegean Sea in Greece is only 80 km from here.
Perelik Project
The territory of the investment project will take a total area of 2191,3 hectares and will cover parts of the mountain, located around Perelik and Kozuiatok peaks, situated Northwest of Smolyan. Land plots from the resort villages- Gela, Stikel, Stoikite and Mugla will also be included in the project. The sport centre will include:
- 28 km ski pistes, situated in accordance to the requirements of TUP and OBOC
- A system for construction and exploitation of ski lifts and drags
- Restaurants and tea rooms
- Construction of new, reconstruction of the already existing and renewing of the infrastructure equipment, transport bases, water conducts and electricity net, drainage, telecommunications and other equipment of infrastructural character
The project should be prepared in several stages and should be considered according to the results of the Eco-monitoring.

There is a 15-20% increase of tourists coming to the ski resort of Pamporovo compared to winter 2010, said Marian Belyakov, Executive Director of Pamporovo AD. There is an increase in the number of tourists in the ski schools, the hotels and on the lifts.
The winter season in Pamporovo is expected to be extended until April if the good skiing conditions continue.
