The Klisura Monastery of “St. St.Cyril and Methodius” is located 80 km. north of Sofia, at the foot of Todorini kukli peak in Western Balkan Range, close to the town of Berkovitsa and the spa resort of Varshets. Here you can enjoy green glades, crystal brooks and old green forests.
The monastery is called the spiritual pearl of Northwestern Bulgaria.

The Klisura Monastery was founded during the time of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom, in 13th century (1240). It was destroyed and restored several times during the Ottoman rule and was a center of literature and education. The Klisura Monastery is one of the biggest active monasteries in Bulgaria.

The monastery complex comprises a church, a chapel “St. Nikolai” (renovated in 1998), three residential and farm buildings, a farm and a holly spring. The capacity is 80 beds and 2 apartments.
The restaurant of the monastery (50 seats) offers delicious dishes from the traditional Bulgarian cuisine, prepared from eco products.
Outgoings in the mountain, horse riding, folklore concerts and others are being organized. The traditional craft of carpet-making is demonstrated.

The Chiprovtsi Monastery “St. Ioan Rilski” is located 6 km. to the northeast of the town of Chiprovtsi. It was raised according to the legend about 10 th century in the beginning of the Christianity. It is a century - old center of Bulgarian education and it has been burned 6 times during the Ottoman rule.

Chiprovtsi is a charming small town with unique nature. It is settled in the foot of the Stara planina mountain, located at the distance of about 30 km. far from Montana. Through the town flows the Ogosta river, coming from the high parts of the mountain. The Chiprovtsi waterfall is not big, but the place where it is located is very picturesque.

The Lopushna monastery lies at a distance of 115 km. to Sofia, on the foothills of the Western Balkan. It is impressive with its proportions, architecture and stone plastics. Architecturally it is a monumental building and looks like the main church of Rila monastery. There are five coupons, which make the monastery more artistic. Its inner decoration is poor, without frescoes. There are only stone relieves on the walls and on the monastery gates. In the monastery are preserved old icons and iconostasis. The wood-carving iconostasis of the cloister is of historical value.
The Loupushna monastery was the favorite place of the Bulgarian poet Ivan Vazov.
