NEW PISTES AND LIFTS ARE TO BE CONSTRUCTED IN PAMPOROVO

Dnevnik daily (18 March 2004), www.dnevnik.bg

Three new pistes with total length of 5 kilometers and two modern four-men lifts will be constructed in Pamporovo till the start of next winter season, announced the management body of SIBANK. As a major creditor and shareholder in “Pamporovo” Plc, the bank has developed an investment project for the sum of 10 million Euro.
According to the plans of the constructors, the first lift will connect the center of Pamporovo to the bus station, while the second rope-way will replace the old 2-men chair lift from the bus station to “Studenec” hut. This will provide the resort with lift transport from the hotels to the ski pistes.
Another advantage of the new pistes shall be the increased capacity of the skiers’ paths in Pamporovo. The main winter problem here being the limited capacity of the pistes, surpassed by the increased number of rooms in the hotels. The new investment includes also a snow-gun machine, which shall be installed on the main and most used piste in Pamporovo, which starts at Snezanka peak.
The new pistes and lifts have to be ready till the end of this year, according to the plans of SIBANK. These plans include also the construction of a 5-star hotel, close to hotel “Perelik”. “The ending winter season was very successful”, said Cvetelina Borislavova, Chairperson of the Council of Supervisors of the SIBANK. According to her, the number of tourists who visited Pamporovo this season exceeds considerably the number of skiers from the last ski season.
