BUSINESS CLIMATE INDICATORS IN BULGARIA IMPROVE

Sofia Echo.com, 28th January 2006

In January 2006 the overall business climate in Bulgaria improved by 1.6 points compared to the December levels. The improvement comes mainly from the improved industry and construction sector conditions, National Statistical Institute data shows. The business climate would improve further in the next six months, economists predict.
Between October 2005 and January 2006 industrial production orders increased from 4.4 per cent to 5.2 per cent. Managers expect higher export levels, as well. Construction indications in January rise with 7.5 points because of the high expectations for better business conditions in the sector. Predictions for construction activity in the coming six months are slightly more pessimistic. Competition in the sector and financial problems might hinder construction developments, Dnevnik newspaper reported.
