Bulgaria to develop further ecotourism opportunities

The Sofia Echo, 22nd May 2006

Bulgaria’s ecotourism sector expects increased foreign tourist interest this summer season.

Nearly 30 different groups of Spanish and French tourists have already booked a summer vacation in the Vrachanski Balkan park. The five guest houses in the region offer opportunities for rural and ecotourism, Bulgarian National Radio reported.

The aim would be to develop alternative tourism opportunities in this north Bulgarian region. Eco and rural tourism opportunities there have been offered for the past seven years.

The typical vacation offer includes a night and dinner in a local house, mountain tracking and introduction to the village lifestyle, the national radio reported.

More than 1500 tourists already visited the rural tourism sites of Pavlovche and Zgorigrad last summer. Since then Vrachanski Balkan also offer cruise tourism with group sailing on the Danube River.
